Here's..as they say... "The rest of the story"

Ok.. so here's the thing.  I finished my layout for the BlogHop, but not completely.. it was just one page that I presented to you, and sometimes that's how I do them, but I really wanted this one to be a 2 page spread and I just couldn't find the right thing to compliment it, ya know?? That nagging feeling that it is still somehow incomplete?!?  When I woke up Wednesday morning I started going through email files in a RUSH looking for a poem that a friend had sent me a long while ago -- and I could only remember half of it.....and.so the search began!  After three days of that nagging feeling eating away at me I FINALLY FOUND IT! So here is the finished layout and that, as they say .....is the rest of the story.

Enjoy.  and a big thanks to Debbie T - she was the one who sent this poem to me :)

The poem is too small for you to read from the pic, so here's a copy:

A  PRAYER  FOR  CHILDREN

Adapted from Ina J. Hughs

             We pray for children
            who sneak popsicles before supper,
who erase holes in math workbooks,
who can never find their shoes.

            And we pray for those
who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire,
who can’t bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers,
            who never “counted potatoes”,
who were born in places we wouldn’t be caught dead in,
who never go to the circus,
who live in an X-rated world.

              We pray for children
who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions,
who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money.

            And we pray for those
            who never get dessert,
who have no safe blanket to drag behind them,
who watch their parents watch them die,
who can’t find any bread to steal,
who don’t have any rooms to clean up,
whose pictures aren’t on anybody’s dresser,
            whose monsters are real.

            We pray for children
who spend all their allowance before Tuesday,
who throw tantrums in the grocery store and pick at their food,
            who like ghost stories,
who shove dirty clothes under the bed,
and never rinse out the tub,
who get visits from the tooth fairy,
who don’t like to be kissed in front of the carpool,
who squirm in Church and scream in the phone,
whose tears we sometimes laugh at and
whose smiles can make us cry.

           And we pray for those
whose nightmares come in the daytime,
            who will eat anything,
who have never seen a dentist,
            who aren’t spoiled by anybody,
who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep,
who live and move, but have no being.

         We pray for children
who want to be carried; and for those who must,
for those we never give up on
and for those who don’t get a second chance.

 {For those we smother ... and for those who will grab the hand of anybody kind enough to offer it.}

Find Your Style - January Stamp of the month Blog Hop

Hi and Welcome Blog Hoppers!

January Stamp of the Month set is D1452 Find Your Style.  I love the vintage feel of it all when coupled with the Wings paper pack....and…you’re going to LOVE how easy it is to earn this stamp set FREE!  Take a look at page 5 in the Inspirations Idea Book (for a limited time.. January ONLY !! )and you’ll find out how to earn stamp sets free or at a discount this month! If you've come from Corinna's Blog (Stampin Java Junkie) you're hoppin along on the right path!

My use for this set is going to be endless, I already have 4 layouts done with all these wonderful images..Don't you just love when a set inspires you this much?!  Me too!

Supplies Everlasting pp, bamboo, cranberry and NewEngland Ivy cs.  Cranberry brads, bamboo, cranberry and olive waxy flax.  Olive eyelets and brad on belt and "buckle", cranberry safety pin . CTMH edge distressor, bone folder, sandpaper and scissors.  Wood frame "buckle" -misc. craft stash.

This layout turned out so fun for me and I love the tattered leather look of distressed paper, thus the inspiration for the belt and buckle was born. (The hook for the belt is my favorite part - its the BACK side of an olive brad..hahaha!)

Also, a note to everyone who thinks this "paper hoardin recycler" has changed her ways...lol... the three large sheets have the center cut out and used on the front of the layout to matte the picture of my baby boy; so have no fear ... I'm still savin every scrap and usin them ALL!!

Hope you have fun on the hop !  Any questions or comments can be left below or you can email me at a_sawyer208@yahoo.com  -  I'll be posting the other three layouts later in the week, but for now it's time to go do some Ringin' in the New Year !!

Keep Hoppin over to Deanne's blog and Thanks for stoppin by!

Luv, HugZ, and *Glitta* ~ Angel
